RHOA: Phaedra’s Donkey Booty Phine Body vs Kenya’s Stallion Booty Bootcamp Workout Videos

Kenya Moore’s “Booty Boot Camp” released on March 5th…directly competing with Phaedra and Apollo Nida’s “Phine Body” donkey booty workout series.

And here’s just the facts, a side by side comparison of Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Kenya Moore and Phaedra Parks’ workout videos:

RHOA Phaedra vs Kenya Workout Videos

Side by side comparisons of Phaedra and Kenya’s workout videos with info from amazon.com retrieved Mar. 12, 2013.

Kenya’s video is slaughtering Phaedra’s in the Amazon best sellers rankings…but Phaedra also sells her videos directly from the Phine Body website so this isn’t a good measure of sales.

My take on Kenya:

  • Kenya’s video is another hard-core type workout in a sea of hard-core type workouts, focusing on quick results through balls to the wall, heart racing intensity and muscle group isolations.
  • Kenya will make you sweat but there are a ton of videos out there that offer a better and more productive workout if hard-core is your desire.
  • Kenya’s method is a tried and true traditional workout video, if you stick with it you will see results sooner rather than later.

My take on Phaedra:

  • Phaedra’s video offers a new concept, the fun workout for the girl who doesn’t want to get all sweaty and nasty but still cares about her figure
  • Phaedra won’t make you sweat and you won’t get results overnight but if you stick with it over time you will get results
  • Phaedra’s approach is more accessible to women of all stages of physical fitness who don’t want to feel overwhelmed by ‘bootcamp’ type workouts.

It really just depends on what you’re looking for, both videos appeal to a different woman.  Kenya’s is a sprint to the finish and Phaedra’s is slow and steady wins the race.

About the reviews:

Ignore the fuck out of most of the amazon reviews…

While many are sincere, the reviews section has increasingly become a domain for trolling, arguing, bashing and other forms of counterproductive tomfoolery…

Kenya’s video didn’t come out until March 5th…before which many positive and negative reviews were already posted, most of them arguing about shit from the Real Housewives…lol.

Who will last:

As far as long-term sustainability is concerned I see Phaedra and Apollo Nida’s “Phine Body” program running the marathon while Kenya’s video was more of a “oh yeah, well fuck you Phaedra” sprint to the bank…but I do get the impression that Phaedra’s not as serious as Apollo when it comes to making future videos so we’ll see.

Packaging Comparison:

That being said, Kenya’s packaging is more attractive, making good use of the color wheel while Phaedra’s packaging pisses all over it.

Standard color wheel from HGTV

This is a color wheel. For fuck’s sakes how come none of the Real Housewives understand how this fucking thing works?! Kenya, nice job. Phaedra, your packaging is making my eyes bleed.

A Question of Business Ethics:

As a beauty queen turned street-smart business woman I can see how psychology major Miss Kenya Moore might have missed a standard business school ethics class.

I’m not saying Miss Kenya’s uneducated, I’m saying she has a degree in psychology, not business, and is an expert at passive aggressive feigned ignorance.

Anyone has the freedom to make a workout video but people like Kenya are the reason innovation stagnates.  No one wants to work hard on something just to have someone else steal it.  Not cool.

So…WTF Happened between Kenya and Phae Phae?

One of two things happened here:

Phaedra gave Kenya an opportunity.  The more Phaedra told Kenya about her idea, the more Kenya realized there could be some serious money in it.  Instead of working in good faith from this point on for Phaedra, Kenya proceeded to overinflate her demands so that Phaedra would have no choice but to walk away.

Honestly, I think the falling out between Kenya and Phaedra had to do with both parties believing the other was full of shit.  Period.

Let’s make some sense of this:

1.  Kenya wanted a six figure production budget for a workout video.  Really?!?!?!

2.  Phaedra wanted to leave production out of back-end compensation.  Really?!?!?!!

The problem here is that Phaedra and Kenya are guilty of the same crime…underestimating each other.

Instead of taking each other at face value and collaborating for an amazing workout video they’ve both managed to insult each other’s intelligence and move on to produce seemingly marginal videos on their own.

That’s the trouble with being street smart AND book smart…you’re so fucking skeptical you’ve got to pinch yourself in the morning before getting a shower!

……oh and I guess Nene Leakes scored a sitcom, grats girl but seriously, you still need anger management, putting your hands on another person is never ok once, let alone twice…sweep it under the rug all you like, you still need to learn how to control your damn self…sheiiiiit.

I think ur comparison is fair and your theories are a riot! I bought both videos just because of the show and they’re ok but Kenya’s video is not as good as some of the other bootcamp videos I own and Phaedra’s video is more laid back, ‘work out and have fun too’ but I’m more into hardcore workouts so not for me.
